What is generative engine optimization?

Generative engine optimization, or GEO, concerns making content more visible in answers assembled by generative search systems. The original GEO research studied content visibility under specific experimental conditions; its results are not a promise that a course or technique will improve every platform.

How GEO differs from a course label

A provider may use GEO, AEO or AI SEO to describe overlapping material. Compare the actual syllabus and its named learning objectives. In this directory, GEO becomes confirmed only when the source supports that classification.

What to look for in GEO training

Look for a defined target surface, practical content work and a measurement method. Ask how the lessons distinguish citation visibility from visits or business outcomes. A broad AI label does not establish all three.

Use the research without treating it as a guarantee

The GEO paper introduces a benchmark and visibility measures. Its reported effects vary by domain. Treat those observations as bounded research, then examine what a provider actually teaches and how current its evidence is.
